Often race outcomes are decided within the first 3 miles when it’s guaranteed the acceleration off the start line is enough to make the early selection.  Valley of the Sun road race teased many. The early selection was large, allowing racers to recover in a comfortable draft created by the leaders. However, looming in the distance was a climb where a second selection was made and where Canadian Mark Ledo was able to use gravity to his advantage as he has in years past. The escape artist made his move stick and cruised to victory overall. Other winners were Jenna Rollman , Will Groulx MH2, Canadian Anthony Lou MH3, David Berling MH5.

The real story for the weekend was in the struggle for overall MH3 class winner. Alfonso Garibay crushed the time trial while Canadian Anthony Lou replied with a road race victory. Garibay fought back to shut the door by winning the criterium but Lou had earned overall first place due to the large time gap he put on Garibay in the road race.

Paralyzed Veterans of America had a huge turnout for the race. MH2 Will Groulx cruised to victory for the 2nd time this year. He now is 2 for 2 while Jerry Cuzick finished 3rd , Velette Britt finished 2nd in the women’s division. . Achilles had good representation from MH4 Owen Daniels finishing 3rd and Travis Wood following in 4th. Team Possibilities showed well with Jenna Rollman taking 1st, MH3 Alfonso Garibay 1st and Brett Richards with a strong race in 3rd.
