An event that took place in the heart of where mountain biking began is a perfect setting for the Off-Road Handcycling World Championships. The event could not have better trails or better support.

Program Development:
August 19th-21st | Sponsored by Disabled Sports USA
Three days of work sessions and training designed that currently run or are interested in running an off-road handcycling program. Topics covered include facilitation/risk management, equipment selection/fit-up/maintenance, trail selection/design, education and advocacy.

TRAVEL GRANTS: Through support from Disabled Sports USA, we will be reimbursing the first eight programs to register up to $300 per program in travel expenses to get to/from Crested Butte. This opportunity is first come first served! Register through the above link.

COST: There is no cost to attend the Professional Development portion of the event, the event will be capped at twenty attendees!
Off-Road World Championships:
August 21st-24th | Three days of riding and racing in and around Crested Butte!
Friday 8/21:
5:00pm – Hill Climb 1000′ vertical climb from the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort to the top of the Red Lady Express Chairlift
Opening dinner & reception to follow hill climb!
Saturday 8/22:
10:00am – XC Race 5-8 mile race on a combination of single and double track at Crested Butte Mountain Resort
3:00pm – Technical Race, think: “enduro meets off-road handcycling.” This race will be mostly downhill on challenging terrain, but will still have a few pedaly sections.

Awards & BBQ following the technical race!
Sunday 8/23:
Elk Mountians Backcountry Epic (for advanced riders only): High alpine riding in the vicinity of Crested Butte
Extended Ride from Crested Butte (for intermediate riders): We will explore some of CB’s newest terrain just a few miles outside of downtown.
Monday 8/24:
Departutes & optional short ride from downtown Crested Butte
Don’t want to race? Supported rides will be available Friday afternoon, and all day Saturday near the race venues on Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
COST: $345 July 1-31st; $395 August 1st-21st (includes all race entries and/or supported rides, Friday & Saturday dinners, Sunday lunch)
LODGING: Included in the cost! However lodging is limited to the first 12 registrants, once these spots are taken you are on your own! Lodging will be a combination of a shared vacation house and hotel rooms.
EQUIPMENT: You must have your own cycle to race! The ASC will have limited rentals available for $25/day for non-racers.
