Top End Euro – American Handcycle Championship Update!!

2/2/2016 Update  (pre-race meeting location change, road race announcements, volunteers)

Further Race details.  We are looking forward to what will be our best race ever!

  • PRERACE MEETING location change:  Friday Feb 5th
    • Packet pick-up and Athlete Pre-race meeting has moved to Panera Bread, adjacent to the Hampton Inn.  New address: 2260 E Hwy 50, Clermont, FL 34711,  Packet Pick-up = 4pm – 7pm, Athlete Pre-race Meeting 5:00-5:30pm.  Panera has reserved their large patio area for us.
  • Almost 100 riders registered!!  Who’s Registered? à https://www.bikereg.com/Confirmed/29361
  • ROAD RACE ANNOUNCEMENTS:
    • Laps: H5,H4, and H3 classifications will do 2 laps of the road race.  H2, H1, Women’s and 55+ Masters will do 1 lap of the road race.
    • Safety: The roads are not completely closed, for that reason our lead official from USA cycling felt that it was safer for the road race to conduct a two group start with 2 minutes in between groups.  All riders will be required to have a safety flag.
    • Single Lap Cutoff:  60 minutes.  Riders who take longer than 60 minutes to complete the first lap will be directed toward the finish.
    • Gearing:  The Road Race features sustained climbs and 1000 feet of elevation.  It is a challenging course.  Riders are encouraged to consider the proper gearing they will need for successfully navigating the course (i.e. bring your smallest chainring if you haven’t ridden in a while)
    • These are other important details will be covered during Friday’s Pre-race meeting (details above)
    • Helmet Colors: H5=Black,   H4=Red,   H3=White,   H2/H1=Green,   Women=Yellow,   55+ Masters=Blue
  • VOLUNTEERS
    • Because the Road Race and Time Trial courses are not completely closed to traffic, we are looking for 2-3 volunteers with Vehicles that could patrol/aid for situations involving the safety of the riders (flat tire, etc).  If you know someone interested in helping out/volunteering please have them visit with race organizers during Packet Pick-up and the Pre-Race meeting
  • UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE and US PARA-CYCLING will be represented throughout the weekend.  We are very excited for their involvement and support of this race.
