2015 Little Alaska Handcycle Camp is a wrap! 200 miles, 10,000 feet elevation gain  and a wine tour. What more can you ask for in a week of handcycling. Oh, fireworks you say. We had that too along with hoola hoopers and a BBQ. The week flew by with riding by day and group meals by night. Riders Ken Bestine, Ashli Molenero, Lee Tempest, Howie Sanborn, Kevin Genehm, Adam Finney, Bobby “the bus” Swanson, Zach Young, Mike Knapp and Joey Desjardins all earned a weeks rest after riding the challenging roads located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. Special thanks goes out to Dave at Lake Country Bike, Jeff at Penn Shore Winery, Findley Lake Holiday Inn Express, French Creek Tavern, Kris Meekins and Craig Nymen for your support and hospitality.

Many handcyclist have wanted to compete in the Saddlers Ultra Challenge handcycle race because it is the hardest and longest handcycle race in the world and that’s a fact. Here is a chance to experience the same cycling challenge minus the anxiety of traveling to Alaska.

This year we will start with the Kinzua Classic bicycle race on the 9th. It’s a 30 mile road race in the Allegheny Mountains. Group rides will begin on the 10th. We will have “A groups” riding 40-50 mile tempo rides and “B groups” riding 25-35 mile rides. These are no drop rides where riders regroup and are encouraged to work together in pace line formation. Rides are van supported.

Starting on the 10th-14th athletes will assemble for group rides at 9:30am in the parking lot of the Findley Lake Holiday Inn Express located at 3025 Route 426 Findley Lake NY 14736. This is a rain or shine event. If you’re not able to attend every ride not a problem. Attend what you can, glad to have you.

At the completion of each training ride a sandwich bar will be provided. This will be great for refueling. It is $5 a day. Please contact Ken 716-355-6678 if you’re interested in this accommodation.

The host hotel is the Findley Lake Holiday inn Express. A block of rooms have been reserved. If you intend on staying at this location you will have to call them for a reservation. If you need a roommate please call Ken Bestine 814-323-3026 or 716-355-6678.
