Redlands Bicycle Classic

All races have character. For years Redlands character was defined by the time trial. Straight up Wabash Street averaging an 8% grade for what seemed a lifetime.  The Big Bear TT that took place at a lung busting heart pounding 7,500 feet elevation. The 2016 version may not have the time trial course that everyone talks about all year but it will have the stiffest competition the West Coast has to offer. Many Paralympian hopefuls will venture to this race for a tune up before the Paralympic trials held later this year. Some of the names on the start list will no doubt be the same on Team USA’s roster this summer in Rio.

When talking to Pedro and Cotie from Possabilities  the paracycling race coordinators for Redlands you are instantly inoculated with their “joie de vivre”.  They recognize the competitive level of the athletes and take measures necessary to foster a quality race experience.  This is a big deal for them and even bigger for the community. Pedro mentioned the handycle division is a fan favorite of the more than 10,000 spectators that will be present on race day. Pedro also said “you have to bring your A game to this race”.

Redlands is the third “C level race in USA Hand Bike Circuit’s point series.  Can the current leaders maintain their leads?
